The Brief:

The family owners of an existing house in Reigate had already been through planning and were underwhelmed with the result and the cost of developing their existing home. They engaged BetterLivingSpace to bring the excitement back to what should be an enjoyable experience.

The Architectural Design & Structural Engineering:

The approved design extended the house with both front and rear extension made complex by the steeply rising terrain. They also involved extensive remodelling meaning the owners had both large new build and renovation costs.

BetterLivingSpace came in with a different approach. Remodelled downs stairs, maintaining the existing walls and room sizes and then build a new first floor to match the ground floor footprint. No new ground works is a big saving, could we convince the client. With a little help of a VR session demonstrating the space. Yes, we could.

A vaulted entrance hall leads you upstairs to a large open plan kitchen dining space which opens on to a south facing balcony linking it to the garden. An office for comfortable quiet home working and a separate family means you can get away.

Downstairs there is everything you expect. Master bedroom with dressing room and ensuite, three large double bedrooms and spacious family bathroom.

Finally, the exterior keeps the character of the original house by maintaining the existing front gable, but a contemporary cladding and render change the aesthetics dramatically.

 
The Result:

The project is now in about to enter the build phase, and we will be uploading photos to showcase the new home once complete.  The comments from the client speak for themselves.
